Had 2 Browns and 4 Grayling in the foreground on nymphs... 3 nice uns on dries in the background slack water

Just to make up for Captain's shocking photography here is a selection N.B. the trout was caught in early September:

Not the biggest grayling in the world, but a very pretty one (size 21 chartreuse brassie) of several from the same shoal last week.

If you want to fish these sections - get in contact with myself, Captain or John Blewitt (blackgnat@blueyonder.co.uk) and join SPRITE (it is free!). You can then get guided fishing visits in return for picking up the odd plastic bag or old furniture!

If you do fish down there; barbless hooks only and Catch and Release only. This wild fishery cannot sustain catch and kill angling.

A miraculous transformation from what I remember chaps, congratulations. When do the seasons for trout and grayling start and finish though?

Grayling season is the same as for coarse fishing I believe? And for Browns its October to end of March me thinks??.. At the moment Grayling are giving themselves up in certain areas and even though 'targetting' Grayling, the odd Brown turns up unexpectedly but providing they (along with the ladies) are returned properly.. no harm done eh?... Barbless hooks as Paul says... and the offer of free guided sessions too for helping with the clean-up and joining Sprite... No sneaking ha ha!

Fishing seasons in S. Yorkshire: Brown trout 25th March to end of September (not Oct); Grayling 16 June to end of Feb.

Nice one Will - it isn't ever that easy to track down the local byelaws about fishing seasons (often difficult to get at via the E.A. in some cases!).

Recent update from John this morning:

Hi Everyone

We have another clean up on the 15th of November. The meet up location has changed, but the area of cleaning has not. Please meet on Sunday 15th of November at Livers Street Bridge. The location is behind the Owlerton Sports stadium (dog track.).All are welcome, if you have waders please bring them.Veg curry and rice for the snack.

We also have a meeting at The Hillsboro hotel at 19.30 on Monday the 16th of November. Everyone welcome( who is bring the raffle prize for this meeting?)

Last weekend's cleanup:

Big respect to all who turned out (especially visitors from Doncaster and Chesterfield). Hopefully John's curry warmed everyone up after we'd done with our couple of hours cleaning.

10 days = 10 skips = a hell of difference to the Don
