As far as I know, the only bit you would have a chance of fishing is at Latimer Park. This has a couple of lakes and I think it has a bit of the river which looks really nice - a clear chalk stream but probably stocked with rainbows, as seems to be the vogue.

No day tickets available but there's a syndicate that runs it. You could try at the big house which I believe is or used to be a management training centre.

If you do get anywhere please let me know as a friend of mine is interested.

Cheers,

Gudgeon

There are a couple of other syndicates on the Chess where it is difficult to join and further research on here using the search key will unearth at least one of them.

Peter Lapsley's article in this month's FF&FT has some not very complementary things to say about what seems to be the Latimer Park lake and river fishing offering...

Loopy, your avatar is very upsetting...

Hi All,

I'm interested in finding some river fishing close to Aylesbury or Tring in Hertfordshire! My Daughter lives near Tring; and I was told by the local coarse fishing tackle dealer (the shop in Tring) that there was a possibility of fishing the river Ouse or Ousel near Leighton Buzzard? he also said that, although it's predominantly a coarse fishing river, there are also some trout in there; and providing I joined the local coarse angling club, I could "Fly fFsh" for trout or coarse fish!

Does anyone else know of this river/stream; and whether it's fish-able or not?

Thanks!!

Mostyn

Must be 25 years or more ago,I fished the beat below Latimer park for a couple of seasons .
Great wee stream with an odd carrier that held big fish.Sadly the owner sold on half the beat and it lost its charm to me.
No idea who to contact these days sadly.

The only river trouting is on the Gade near Dagnall and on the Wye on the West Wycombe Estate. The Wye is syndicate, although that doesn't seem to stop a few of the locals with the Gade also being a syndicate but have not heard from them for a while. You can fish the river Thame for the very odd trout (some on the outskirts of Aylesbury or near Thame - but not really worth the effort) or fly fish with daddies for the chub. Nearest decent bit of water, Coln at Fairford or Bibury or the River Windrush, the remainder being stillwaters. I personally head south for my river fishing. Good luck in your search.

Tring Anglers have waters on the Thame, Ouse and Ivel (I think).

I'm not sure if there are any trout but there should be some chub, dace or possibly carp action. They also seem to have a bit of the Windrush and this river does hold trout and a few grayling in places.

Here they are:

I also think that there's a bit of river trout fishing around the Tring reservoirs, one of which is or was a stocked trout fishery run by a syndicate. Try Mr Google.

Happy hunting.

Some areas around Sandy are free and the chub and pike can be alot of fun on the fly.
