Yes, the Clyde does rise not so far from Moffat, but it flows north, while the Moffat water flows 'southish' into the Annan. I'd guess the burn was photographed somewhere not so far from Crawford. The Moffat water receives the outfall from Loch Skeen, down the Grey Mare's Tail, on the other side of the hills from Talla, Fruid, Megget and the infant Clyde. TC
PS Nice example of a little riffle there, Jim, but typical of the Clyde that I saw a week Sunday, there is a shortage of projecting stones, which make landing sites for the 5 olive spinners known to crawl down such stones in order to lay their eggs below the surface. In that respect, Eden has perhaps better riffles, but some appalling wading, while Clyde is a comfort and a pleasure to wade in many parts, it seems. I used to get up that way quite a bit while working; we had radio and TV equipment in the buildings up at the Civil Aviation staton above Wanlock Head, Leadhills and Elvan Foot.
