Default River Nidd- Flow Regulation

I am on holiday next week and was thinking of fishing the Nidd around Pateley Bridge with my son.

It's been pretty wet recently and forecast to be so next week too so I am concerned about the level of the river and if it will be fishable.

It occurred to me that as the Nidd flow is regulated by the dams upstream that wet weather may not necessarily mean the river will be high.

Does anyone have any local experience that could help me on this one please?

Default River nidd - Flow

Hi
I have fished the river nidd for a number of years and it seems to fall off pretty quickly. The compensation water seems to be a steady trickle and it goes up and down like any other river with the rain. If you give the Enviroment Agency a ring they will give the number for River call, you can ring the number and find out how much water the river is carrying. I would,nt worry too much about it too much, like I say even if we get heavy rain it will run off quickly.

Cheers
Pudsey

Many thanks.

As river levels have dropped I think I will either pop up on spec tomorrow or fish my local stretch of the Wharfe at Otley.

Thanks Again
