Default Upper Clyde Grayling

has anybody been out on the upper Clyde for Grayling recently? I am thinking about heading out there tomorrow cause of the cold snap. Also does anyone know if you are allowed to fish for the pike in the river with a fly? just wondered about hook size regulations and all that.

Cheers

Campbell

Cheers for the heads up. That's too bad. SEPA website said it was on the drop though.

I was on the clyde on friday and it was clear. Had 5 or 6 small grayling, my mate had the same. All on bugs. Best was 3/4 of a pound. I did see a guy who was playing a huge grayling for half an hour on 3lb leader He reckoned the fish was near 5lb. Said he had a couple on nymphs earlier in the day.

I was using dries and bugs. Caught the trout on a 16 pink and grey parachute.

I don't know the water too well, but had a nice day out. Nice work on Friday Tweed, sounds like a good outing.

Just wondering what the best style of fishing for grayling is ?

is it fly fishing (what to use ?)

or trot a maggot or sweetcorn ?

i have never fished a river before never mind for grayling !

thinking of going up the Earn next week,,i take it the time is right for grayling !
