Default SPRITE Roaming day. River Don Sheffield Sat 5th Sept

Anyone going from here? Roving match. See you there.

Message from organiser:

Club Mill Road is on the far side of the river from the flag marker on the map. Meeting here (Clubmill Road) by the river at 8:30am on 5th September for sweepstake collection (£2 each) and rules. Obviously it will be a fairly relaxed affair but I've made some accurate measuring troughs so that we can get some good data on fish that are caught.

A coloured river greeted 5 of us who bothered to turn up. We fished for around 1 and half hours in different areas of the river... 48 fish were caught to 34cm and many in the 20cm range.. The day was lead by John Blewitt http://www.spanglefish.com/sprite-so...?pageid=171511 who, with the help and assistance of several others are working tirelessly to get the Don cleared-up!.. Basically we have loads of fishing to be had and needed to just see what species in each area hold... Out of all the fish caught, only 1 was a Chub... all the others were pristine Browns and Grayling. John has secured the 'rights' to fish many areas and needs more support! So, if you wish to meet some genuinely lovely people who care about the environment and this forgotten/abused river, please contact him and join us! Trust me.. there are some wonderful stretches that contain lots of fish.... Please come and get involved.

Nice one again and lets build this up into a regular event. We should sell tickets and have a celebratory BBQ afterwards!

Hi
Thought Id join one of these forums sooner or later. One or two of the members have asked about a match in the near future. So what about one at the end of January,£5.00 to enter,20 rods, roving between Hillfoot bridge and Beeley wood. Only grayling and coarse fish to be counted in the match. All fish to be recorded.Any method, Any thoughts about the grub.

I'm game. I also still have a couple of the measuring troughs from the last match in the boot of my car. Think I will fit lanyards for the next match...

I have bought the material to make the measuring troughs, just got to get the bungee rope for the lanyards. So make a date in the diary for the 31st of Jan,meet at 09.00 Clubmill Road to fish till 15.00 hrs.Any legal method, dont forget your E.A licence. No licence no fishing. £5.00 to enter.
Most in season fish wins, with a prize for the biggest fish.Common you coarse fishers why not join us.
