Due to be up in Inverness area for a few days towards the end of next week (6th - 9th Aug). I am keen to have a shot at river fishing for trout and grayling, it being a long long time (years, nay decades) since my last outing on moving water.

Good excuse to get out for a few hours from visiting the in-laws!

Can anyone recommend a river suitable for a river novice day out in the Inverness area?

Suggestions on location, tactics and where to get hold of a permit, would be most welcome.

There are no grayling. Most of the rivers are salmon rivers.
