You don't have a 'right to roam' on riverbanks.

not only trespass, also going equipped to steal fish. The right way to do it would have been do the research, knock on the farmers door and have a bottle of something in your bag to say thank you. Most times I find they are quite happy for the odd angler unless it's leased out to a club. Especially polite ones that ask first...

In some quarters direct action against a known poacher's vehicle has been found to have better deterent value than conventional measures.

Your search for wild trout is admirable. Your methods are not. I spend hours talking to farmers asking their permission for fishermen like you and me to fish their river through the Wye and Usk Foundation Voucher Scheme (and others do the same for many other similar schemes). I tell them how responsible fishermen are and they take me and you on trust. With actions like yours, I do wonder.

If you don't like being called a poacher then don't do it in the first place and certainly don't state that you will do it again, particuarly when you know that you were poaching.
