Question Lamprey Eels in kelvin.

2 large lamprey eels were spotted yesterday in the river kelvin in the heart of Glasgow ,this was also caught on video by the fisherman who spotted them ,are these creatures a regular to our inner city rivers or is this quite a rare thing for the kelvin or any other inner city river ,just a little curious,

What lenght were they Derek?
Used to see loads of brook lampreys in the Kelvin years ago, but they were only small, 4 or 5 inches long.

We tend to get them in the Conwy in cycles of 3 to 4 years. You'll see none for a couple of years, then you'll see a dozen or so the next. Never worked out why though.

It would seem to imply that the river is getting cleaner.

Some information here.

Identification of the three species here.
