Default Little Avon

I braved the rain and had a few hours today on the Little Avon. rain was torrential in Newbury and along the M4 so expected the worst, but the river was fine though a little coloured - perfectly fishable. This was my first visit to the river and i started with a NZ set up with a klinkhammer supporting a copper john. Nothing moved and I decided to put on a heavy nymph and dispense with the klink. This worked a treat and I had a grayling first cast. It was pretty steady and I ended up with 4 grayling and a trout with as many lost, one of which snapped me as it charged into the tree roots without me even catching sight of it.

Well worth the effort. Some pictures....not my best efforts I'm afraid!

Regards

peter

Berkeley estate water in Gloucestershire. Like a lot of small streams, getting in and out is a nightmare. Once in, you stay in!!

Get well soon!

Regards

Peter
