Default Bolton Abbey

Managed a day at Bolton Abbey grayling fishing on Wednesday. It's the first time I've visited the river and what a day.
Spent the morning seraching the river up in the area of Strid Wood? and managed 4 nice graying on a small dark spider type pattern. Lunchtime and a visit to Grove rare books in the village, then back to the river, 12.30ish and the area below the Pavillion was alive with fish, so on with a small dark olive (14) and it was another 7 up to 1 1/2lbs.
The river was in superb condition with a peaty tinge.
I know I'm spoilt in Derbyshire but for a pleasant change it was well worth the journey North and I'd certainly recomend a day ticket here.

It's got to be one of the best rivers in the country IMHO

I would support that opinion Crabacle, I have fished it regularly for nigh on 40 years and it never ceases to impress, both from a game and a coarse fishing point of view.

You don't have to pay the Bolton Abbey prices for a decent days sport either.
You can join one of the local clubs and get a years fishing for a fraction of the price you pay on this stretch.

Depends what you are after: coarse, trout, grayling?

Tickets from the Bolton Abbey stretch are £20 and are available from the estate office next to the Abbey. I can't help with any other information on the area, but I too would be pleased to hear of other areas with day tickets that are available for both coarse and game.
Many thanks.
