Default ferryhill and district angling club

Can anyone enlighten me as to what this clubs waters are like? I see they have some stretches on the wear and tyne but they seem to allow bait fishing everywhere. Wondered what the waters are like for fly and spinning for migratory fish...

its well worth the£45 to join.

they have a couple of stretches on the tyne and tees , around 10 miles on the wear and a mile or so on the skerne .

as you said they do allow bait fishing , worms all season and maggotts when the coarse season starts .

excellent for salmon and sea trout , check this months T&S

Thanks for the link.
Unfortunately it hasn't been updated since 2008. The phone number I tried belonged to an ex committee member who is now 93!!
Would like if possible the number of the membership secretary.

the wear is a mixed fishery so bait fishing is allowed , worms all season and maggots as soon as the coarse season starts .
ferryhill offers good value for £45 plus joining fee and there are some nice trout in the river , although grayling seem harder to catch (in decline i think although they are there).
as i only live 500 yards from the river i still join every year as its handy if i fancy a spur of the moment session .
i do most of my fishing on the eden now .
hope this helps .

Durham City Angling Club, link below, has an excellent section of the Wear (amongst several other sections) at Shincliffe Hall where there is a maggot ban to the end of September.
Also the whole family can fish on the one membership book, kids, wife and grand-kids when accompanied by the senior(i.e. over 20 years of age) member

Application form HERE

For anyone living outside of the area there is a £25 YEARLY Visitor membership rate
