Back for another couple of hours tonight, totally different this time-no May's to be seen, loads of big Olives though.
Started at the bottom of the beat, which is a combination of slow glides and deep pools, well oxygenated and usually home to a few spotties.Missed a couple of lightening quick rises, and was considering going down a size in fly when this little fella obliged.
Through a couple of pools, put a few shy risers down with a couple of atrocious casts!

, and then this little Lady took a liking to the detached body Mayfly.
The Ewenny is full of Grayling now, ranging from a few ounces to over 2lbs,providing all year round sport.
Moving on to a deep slow pool, which I usually bypass because it's soooo hard to land a fly correctly on the glassy surface,I stopped for a few minutes to check for rises.Sure enough there was a steady "sipper" at the confluence of a small stream entering the main flow.
Agreeing with myself that this would be the last cast tonight I popped the fly over him and in slow motion he sipped it in,again a lovely small WBT full of fight.
Really pleased I stopped at the pool now as it's now become not as impossible as I thought to extract on of it's occupants
Another great evening on the little river, and not another angler in sight!
