Default River Dee Help.

Hi All.
I have fished stilwaters for years but I thought its about time I had a go at fly fishing rivers so here goes..
I am going to have a go at fishing the Dee for Grayling Trout and possbly salmon. I will be fishing the Maelor AA stretch at Llangollen for Trout and Grayling.
Looking at LLangollen AA for salmon. Would love to hear your thoughts on either such as good pools, how, flies etc the usuall stuff.
Can't wait to give it a go.
Thanks in antisipation.

Hi Itchy
I joined Maelor at the start of the season and have fished it a few times, though not in the past couple of weeks. Which beat will you be fishing? If it's the Bathers Beat by the country park, then there are fish well spread along the whole length. Make sure you try both the glides and the fast runs. I tend to fish a duo rig of a Klink on the dropper with a small copper bead hares ear or pink shrimp on the point. Favourite areas for me are the fast water below the aquaduct, the glide below the steps and the bend with the sandy beach
close to the country park.
Hope this is of some use
Paul
