Default Wye - Ty-Newydd

I'm fishing Ty-Newydd on Wednesday. Any advice gratefully received.

I was thinking of trying spiders having seen the Oliver Edwards and John Tyzack DVD's recently.....

Regards

Peter

Should serve you well, I can't really fish them but Andrew Cartwright uses them to great effect on that part of the river.

Yellow mays and olive uprights are hatching, so sulphur yellow size 14 emergers, and F flies and don't be without a hawthorn.

Best of luck

Thank you. Hawthorns and F flies in reserve then!

Fished pandy for a couple of hours on Tuesday, quite hard but had a small grayling and a smaller brownie.

On Wednesday I fished Ty-Newydd. Cool downstream wind was a nuisance. Tried spiders and caught a fish! It is a really absorbing technique which I'll try again. Moved to the fst deep water and short lined a tungsten beaded nymph and picked up another 3, best about 10" so not big but a cracking fight in the fast water. Ended with an hour or so on dries, missed one and then lost one. My mate was troubled by out of season grayling, he had 6 all on a grey wulff and all a very good size.

Regards

Peter

Phew!

As the wind howled down the river at Builth yesterday I was wondering whether WUF should consider introducing a blow off!
