Default Bloody Poachers!

Had a great night on the Hamps tonight.

Fishing back up - saw a load of guys walking the river - about a dozen of them.

Half of which had spinning rods.

I phoned the police - they arrived 30 mins later - the guys were still fishing - when they saw the police they dropped the rods.

So the police just sent them on there way.

Great.

Default poachers!!!

Easter Sunday, River Arrow, Herefordshire:
Quietly on my rounds ( I keep an eye on 3 Wye & Usk Passport waters and 4 private stretches in between) 2 figures appear with (spinning) rods, move towards them, they move away. Take to vehicle, they run. Give chase, both go in the river-- one deep, fish scattered behind, lost them! Drove upstream 1/2 mile. No fewer than 6 fishing!! Made them all run by reving. Gained one discarded spinning rod with size 4 Mepp equivelent and more fish (some 6" long!!!!!)
Then heard friend had wisely left alone a further 8!!! 2 miles downstream. There was plenty of evidence of more upstream the next morning.
What do you do?? The police will not react. I think there is only one car on for the whole of North Herefordshire and they are nearly always involved with a car accident.Where are the bailiffs?

I was in Winchester this afternoon - happily fishing away (the Itchen), when a van-load of 7 blokes shows-up, (parks on double yellow lines) all with their tackle - spinners, worms, bread etc etc (one had a hand-line fashioned out of an large old plastic coke bottle) , , , ,

I made ready to de-rig and quietly go on my way, when one of them comes bouncing up to me with a big friendly smile to ask me how I was doing and was I catching anything - all in very heavily accented English. Turns out all these blokes were from Poland who all work and live on a local building site.

I tried to explain, but it was all one big joke to them - what can one bloke do when faced with 7 burly Polish construction workers . . . . Thankfully they were not the slightest bit agressive towards me (in fact the opposite is true).

I just went on my merry-way

Default bailiffs where???????????

when i fished the taff (ospreys waters) there were loads of people fishing no licences they even had the cheek 2 ask my how much they were so i told them they just laughted at me & my mate and said its pointless getting 1 as they never c bailiffs here and they have been fishing here 4 years it makes u think why should we get 1 i know that the money go to the environment but where are the bailiffs,as iv havnt seen any this year the more poachers the less fish we catch and the police dont seem to care and i even seen 4 night lines tired to trees(which i removed)where are the BAILIFFS ??????????????? there are loads of people out of work so why dont they employ more instead of making the clubs richer

Alex,

I stole a couple of hours on the Churnet at Lords Bridge last night when I was on the way back from Cheshire. I found 10m of 10lb line with a bomb attached to the end of it.

We obviously have a bit of a problem down there too.

Good work Warren.

AWESOME result Warren. Shame it costs so much time and effort on the part of private citizens to enforce the law.
