Hi bonn1, as a member of KLAA I can assure you it is a very rare sight to even see a salmon on the Underley Estate water before mid June. On the other hand, given some water, sea trout fishing can sometimes be productive in May. Good luck anyway.

Lunesman,

How do you find the trouting on your water? I'll be paying a visit or two to Rigmaden this season....but if it's anything like the Sedbergh water just upstream, I fear I'll be wasting my time!

Hi Matt, the trout fishing on our water is nothing compared to what it was some years ago. Some days you can get a good hatch of fly, buy nothing seems to be rising. The few trout I manage to get at this time of year are usually taken on nymph patterns fished deep. I sometimes fish Sedbergh myself, think KL is a bit better. As regards Rigmaden water I have never fished it, but as they say if your flys in the water, you never know.

thanks for the reply
will check water levels and might try for sea trout if level rises as a bit expensive for a days fishing (£50) or £20 for trout

Morning billdrew, unfortunately for you all the Lune in the Kirkby Lonsdale area is either association water, with no day tickets, or private syndicates. I know you can get a days fishing down at Lancaster, but not sure where you get the permits. If you go north about 10 miles Sedburgh anglers have some water on the Lune and Rawthy. Will find out contact details, and let you know ASAP.
