Default Ebbw today

Had a day on the Ebbw with Allen.

River now very low. Quite a good hatch of LDO's, no sign of any brook duns yet, though still a bit early.

Here's a few pics of the day:

Alan with a lively one:

Cheers Mark.P ..... The more I practice the luckier I seem to get

Robroy........ Don't think it's got anything to do with the climate ....... probably they keep fit by constantly dodging the traffic cones, shop trolleys etc etc.
Oh and by the way ........ Deano only goes to the gym to ogle

I was staggered by how fat the Ebbw trout were the first time I fished it. In my opinion they are some of the best trout in Wales if not the UK. Looking at the fly life in the river I'm not entirely surprised. If only there was a better environment around the river and a few less shopping trolleys it would be priceless. I've said before, if this fishing was in Hampshire you'd happily pay a lot of money for it.

The Ebbw is so good that I was sworn to secrecy and had to promise not to tell anyone the first time I was taken there in 2003.

by the way stop blackening my name i dont go up the gym to ogle, think you must be confusing me with mr cartwright.
cant fish this weekend going away somewhere with helen, she wont let me go anywhere near water.

i made the pics slightly bigger to compensate for their small size (well, actually those fish are all 3lb but my hands are like goliath's). i caught 4 this evening in tredegar park, which i am really happy with. i enjoyed it so much i fished until my yarn indicator was impossible to see due to darkness (just before 8.15). ive realized why i havent been catching much now, i need to keep changing my flies to suit conditions. i already knew this but i used to get stressed and frustrated when catching nothing therefore avoided the effort of changing.

anyone know a shop in south wales that sells tungsten flies ready made? i have also noticed that brass ones are awful! il order some beads off the net soon but i want some ready made flies now! garry evans does not sell them
