Default River Neath

Anyone know much about this river and how it has been fishing for brown trout?

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark

Fished for a couple of hours yesterday at Rees's Yard around midday, water very clear and of good height, unfortunately didn't touch anything, spoke to another angler who has been out 3 times so far and blanked each time. So it looks like it's slow so say the least. Even though it was warm no sign of any hatch taking place, looks like a case of keep trying

Have been told by Kim Tribe (local guide) that the Neath is not the river it was for brown trout. Still an excellent sea trout river though.

Been exploring this on the Glyn Neath water (Rees's yard upstream) and it's like no other river I've fished - just getting to the river is difficult - and when you get there the boulder strewn nature of both banks and bed makes progress - and especially wading - very hard work.

BUT - persist, and there are rewards - hit a 3lb sea trout last week and I've had three small (8oz or so) brownies - great fun.

Starting to think that the tool I really need is a coracle.
