has anyone fished the river coln at fairford recently. will be fishing their in a couple of weeks and wondered what the conditions are like. any recommendations on tactics and flies, etc.

I am going to the Coln in April and, like Klinkhammer, would be interested in constructive information about the stretch at Fairford.
Otherwise it's just me and you Klinkhammer!

I fished the water in the town a couple of times, once with a prolific mayfly hatch. There are many more fish than you think, probably one per sq m! They are pretty wily, this early in the season, I would not even try dry fly, so use your favourite nymphs and strike at every twitch.

p.s. I think it's a very pretty river (stream), although the stretches I have fished have been over looked by footpaths with lots of dogs jumping in etc.
