Default Threat to the Clyde

I've just heard from Maggie Martin, Secretary of the Lamington Angling Improvement Association of the intention of a quarry company to apply for planning permission (next month) to extract 5 million tons of sand and gravel from the banks of the Clyde approximately 3 miles upstream of Wolfclyde Bridge. Since most of this extraction will be below the water table it would effectively destroy 4/5 of the most productive pools of the Association's water including the Sleepers and the big run in front of Symington Mains Farm not to mention the devastating effect the run-off from the workings would have on the water downstream. I gather there is to be a meeting/presentation from the company or their representatives at Lamington Village Hall tonight. I hope to be there and will report back once I know more.

Cheers,

Davie

ps Jim (3lb G..) you have a pm

Default Threat to the Clyde

Hi Haggisboy,

I've been sent more details to my email at work but unfortunately can't access the forum from there. I'm hoping Jim (3lb grayling) will get in touch so I can pass the details on to him to post.
Cheers,

Davie

Default Proposed quarry near the River Clyde

Mate,

try and find out what the deadline is for making representations, the Planning Authority will have the details- then anyone with an interest in the Clyde should bombard the Planning Authority with as many objection letters as possible. The Local Structure plan will need to be gone through to find out which Planning Guidelines they are in breach of, such as Environmental. Noise, Visual, pollution other Negative Impacts etc.

Then there has to be a letter on-line that people can download listing all these Policies that they are likley to be in breach of.

Im gutted if they get the go-ahead this is my favourite stretch of the Clyde, had some great days all along this stretch

Mike

Angry Aaaaagh

The company is Pattersons.,I cannot for the life of me see how this Quarry can be contained within the bunds.and to leave two large lochs on the banks of the clyde
The proposals will be forwarded to the council in april.
I will post the PDF. If I can.

Jim,

If you open up in Adobe reader - which is probably what you use then you can go to "file" and "save as text" then copy into the email.

Best Regards
