Default River Twiss - River Doe, Ingleton, North Yorkshire

Went for a great walk around Ingleton and saw that they have day tickets for £4 per day to fish the River Twiss / River Doe in Ingleton. Great scenery, not sure if anyone will know this place already but wanted to tell you guys about it as it's beautiful. See website below for a really good day out plus like I say you can fish for the trout too.

Has anyone perhaps fished it before?

i had a season ticket for the ingleton angling club water this year, and i have to say it was money well spent

The trout as a whole aren't very big, and they can be damn tricky to fool, but they're an absolute picture to look at and fight brilliantly on light tackle. The legwork can be a nightmare, especially in waders, but once you get up into the valleys good and proper (past the footpaths) the peace and tranquility you find is well worth it.

Biggest i managed was only around 9 inches in length, but there are definitely much bigger fish around, they're just very tricky to catch!

Also i'd suggest a very small rod or you'll spend most of the day fishing for birds in the trees!

just to give yo a taster of what lookers these ingleton trout are, here's a little fella caught on a dry fishing almost stillwater style under thornton force, the biggest of the rivers' waterfalls.

They don't come out to play often, but there are some very big trout to be had in the upper reaches of both rivers. It must be the limestone

A lovely place to go for a walk - but surely the huge numbers of tourists would ruin any chance of a days fishing in peace and quiet.

Not sure, there is a well used trail up one river valley and down the other so it might well be productive above the footbridge on the second photo where the path ends
