Question River Arrow?

Hi All
JUst back from a family day out and stopped at a little Herefordshire village called Eardisland. Gorgeous little village, with a nice looking river running through it. It was slow and clear and I thought mostly chub/dace territory but... near the duck feeding point was a wily looking trout of around 2.5lb

I know that the WUF roving voucher system has a couple of beats on this river but I was wondering if anyone on here knows any more about this delightful looking little waterway.

Trib of the Lugg that rises in the Radnorshire Hills and prior to getting to Kington flows from and over limestone. Could be a great river if fully repaired. But in decline and has been so for years. Likely to be plenty of fishing available to those that ask in the right quarters .

Hope you had a good day out.

Sorry.

Did you know that your post had to be a minimum of ten characters long to be acceptable?!!!! (Hence this additional bit)

I'm interested in that geology though CF. Funnily enough, the river at Eardisland has the look of a Cotswold lowland stream about it - the choccy box village helps I guess. Plenty of water too. Time we went exploring?!

My thoughts of exploration always dwindle if I do not think that a river might be as good as or better than the Monnow, most of which remains unexplored by me anyway.

Does that make a monnowgamist?!

Default Same Arrow?

Would this be the same Arrow that I fished the other week at Mowley Wood on the WUF scheme?

I found it to be lovely in places. Enough likely looking riffles and pools to keep you interested for more than a few hours and a weirpool at one end that was full of small browns. I caught about a dozen fish and was smashed by something that startled me and caused utter mayhem for the 3 seconds or so that I was in contact with it. The water was low and the vegetation was very overgrown in places, but there is something very appealing about the water and with some attention I think it could be really good.

I had intended to fish the other allegedly Grayling rich WUF beat but couldn't follow the instructions in the book and thus couldn't find it. Typical male eh?

It is indeed. I fished Mowley Wood years ago and hence my ealier post that this river would benefit greatly from a programme of habitat improvement. I think that it has great potential and does lie in a particuarly picturesque part of the country. I have fond memories of the Arrow and Lugg, having started flyfishing on them 30 years ago.

Does anybody know what the WUF are intending to do on the Arrow and the Lugg.

You are very close to the Stag Titley if you ever want to take the wife out for a very good meal and bed afterwards and fish the next day.
