I gave it a go last weekend and quite frankly it was too cold

Temperature never rose above freezing and rod ring icing was prevalent for the 1st 2 hours. I did get 6-8 grayling but this is well below the average for this beat and whenever I caught one I would concentrate on the same spot only to get no more bites. With the cold we are experiencing one would of thought the grayling would be shoaling hard. Despite the cold there was a small hatch of olives mid afternoon but the fish that came to the surface were extremely small and my fingers were not prepared to change the leader!
Nice to be out but just too cold. Roll on Spring
