Default anyone fishing lower ribble

seeing as an new to fly fishing only been fishing the ressies at moment but been to river having a play around so what like to know has anyone been fishing the ribble at its lower stretches tickled trout down to london road and if anyone could advise on best flies to use on there please

Its Barbel country there. I suggest czech nymphs or bugs this time of year. However to be honest I would say you are a bit too low down the river. If on a day ticket try the EA beat at mitton a few miles up the road or the red Lion at settle for the upper Ribble.

I accompanied a friend last season on the water downstream of the Tickled Trout. You won't get much joy down there I'm afraid. It does contain trout but the water lacks variety and stinks of sh*t.......and that's before you start getting aggro from the chav scum off Callum!!


Mitton is worth a try, but if it's early days for you as a river angler, be aware that this is pretty uninspiring water too, with only a moderate head of fish and quite hard fished at that. Don't let that put you off though - it's as good a place as any round here for getting a grip of the basics....

you might try the Hodder at Slaidburn for Grayling until the brownies come back on line in March. Tickets from the Village stores.
