Default Project Funding

All

I am currently carrying out a project on the Hamps River in Staffs for my club.

I am looking for funding - A number of manufacturers have pots to help such projects - patagonia, hardy to name two.

I was hoping that I might also get a few leads from here?

Speak to your EA area Fisheries Officer they can often lay their hands on surprising amounts of money especially if you have established good relations with them.

Ring the WTT or email director@wildtrout.org if your project is a follow up from an Advisory Visit they might be able to assist with a rod from Orvis or Sage for a raffle or Auction prize (see Warren's sensible suggestion).

Are you in the Peak District National Park?

Your County Council may have a fund for environmental enhancement projects. As might the local Nature Trust.

What sort of amount are you after and what benefits to the environment and or wider community does your projct offer.

Whatever you do kep detailed records of your and other volunteers' time because you might be able to set it off as work in king against any grant aid.

Fell free to telephone me if I can help further

Regards

Rob

Thumbs up Welcome aboard Alex

Hi alex.swann

If you can spell your name correctly....then lottery funding up to a current ceiling of 15k is readily available.....use this for match funding,as Rob suggests, along with your time and effort costed in. This will enhance any prospective partnerships.

Again.....if any of this makes no sense I am only a PM away.....there are plenty of allies on the forum

Landfill tax credits is another readily available source. Try the Biffa website first and follow suitable links.

Advantage West or East Mids are worth a call.

Also your County Council will have a Project/Grant Coordinator who offers very good guidance, especially for the smaller project.

There are other sources but I need more info to perhaps guide you more specifically.

Gents

This is all good - I should have explained a little bit more.

We have had a visit from Tim at the wild trout trust and Derbyshire Wild Trout Trust. The plans fall into three stages:

Stage one - brushwood bundles and felling of trees
Stage two - LWD
Stage three - pool creation - this is the bit that we will need funding for - somewhere around 5-8k.
Stage 4 - fencing - again a few k - not priced up yet.

I'll make a note of the suggesttions so far and get in touch with them.

Alex

Alex... who will be doing the pool creation work? Contractors or volunteers?

The Staffordshire Biodervisity Action Plan might be a good route into to attracting the right partners, and funding: http://www.sbap.org.uk/index.php

Staffordshire Wildlife's headquarters are round the corner from me. I walk the dog there regularly and could enquire about project funding. One of their projects was to produce a booklet on 'Managing Woody Debris in rivers, streams and floadplains', along with river restoration on a local stretch of the Trent with funding from The EA, SWT and English Nature. You can download the booklet here

I need to check he's still there, but there's a keen fly fisherman who works in the relevant directorate at the County Council. I don't think he deals with this type of environmental project but I'm sure he would point you in the right direction.

Staffs Wildlife Trust also produce a leaflet called 'What to do with roadkill' and, would you believe it, no mention of fly tying
