Default Wiltshire Avon - Monday.

I fished the Wiltshire Avon on Monday, close to West Amesbury.
Water levels not as bad as I had feared but around 18 inches lower than previous years!
The fish are pretty spooky as a result of this and the lack of weed (ranunculus etc.) as natural cover doesn't help.

Basically it comes down to fishing pretty light tippets - but I was catching with a 3.5lb point and had very few refusals.

The Danica started coming off in good numbers by around 11.30am and it took around 2 hours for the fish to really switch onto them, with the first takes coming to a Danica emerger just before 1.20pm. Once they swithched onto the Danica it was a wonderful day's sport.

The two successful flies were a reversed parachute Danica emerger - look here for something similar:

and then later on to French Partridges - at first on a size 12 then as they got more confident we went up a size.

Overall a wonderful day.

Tight Lines,

Dominic.
