Default Derbyshire(?) clubs/syndicates

I'm pondering territories new for the 2009 season within a couple of hours of (north) London. Ideally I'd like access to some freestone river trout fishing with a reasonable prospect of wild trout. Derbyshire looks a more plausible option that Wye and Usk in terms of travel time, but I've no idea what's available.

Can anyone recommend an affordable club / syndicate? Is there a Derbyshire equivalent of Salisbury & District AC (my main club) or W&U foundation i.e. with a range of waters on offer?

thanks
Mark

Arrow Other clubs

At this point I usually put a plug in for the Ashbourne Fly-fishing club.

Nothing as sophisticated as a website, but plenty of great brook fishing, mainly wild trout and, as a bonus, some gems of largely-hidden unknown and unfished stillwaters, friendly if idiosyncratic members, and the waters are keepered

Costs about the same as DCAC, but a totally different experience.

Or, if you want to fish the mighty Derwent and 500 yards of the Wye there is also
Darley Dale Flyfishers
A bit more expensive also keepered.

However these places are a tad more than 2 hours from London.

PM me if interested in either of these

We push a flock of cormorants downstream most mornings. They are forced to treat the middle Derwent above Matlock as their second home for six months of the year, after the reservoirs.

I am going to suggest Leek & District.

It's £175 to join and then about £100 PA.

You can join now pay and start fishing straight away. We don't have stillwaters but do have the Dove at Dovedale, Bentley Brook and couple more.

We also have members from London - the thread on here is as good as any for background - send me a PM if you want more info or a tour.

I am a DCAC member and it offers excellent value for money at about £200 per year plus £200 joining fee.

It's got great rivers, Derwent, Dove, Manifold plus season tickets on Ladybower, Carsington, Toft Newton, Foremark and Blithfield.
There are a number of smaller stillwaters and Ogston reservoir which are solely for club members. There is also excellent coarse fishing on the Idle, Derwent and Trent.
The club also has salmon and sea trout fishing on the South Esk and Mawdaach

Excellent value for money covering every kind of fishing you would want, most of it within 45 minutes of my house.

Question club membership size?

What's the number of members in DCAC and LADDFFA?

And as I recall I don't think there is an upper limit on number of members in DCAC. Which I personally think is crazy.

Both AFFC and DFFC are limited to less than 100 members (about 40 and 60 respectively I think)

Thanks all some great links. But yes, on reflection more like three than two hours into the prime fishing areas (even in my .. err .. 'dawn fishing express' driving mode) which poses practical limitations, at least until I manage to escape London. Whilst I ponder that, to get a flavour are there any other worthwhile river day ticket venues (I know about the Peacock).
