Now,it's funny you should ask this as it gives me a chance to tell of my first fly-caught river fish.Went up last Friday, caught on 3rd cast and used the net on an 8 INCH!! rainbow!I was still made up with this an hour later when I latched into something that pulled back!A beautiful brownie of ~1lb-magic.Continued after lunch and caught several more browns up to 8oz and also a handful of grayling-including one which I saw rise to take my dry fly.I realise I've broke no records here but I hope you all can understand how I felt driving home last week-big grin all over face.Hoping to get back this Fridayto see if my luck's still in.

Anyway,to answer your question, after lunch there were lots of fish rising ,the river seemed in good order with a bit of colour and someone who actually knows how to fish would probably have had a red letter day.

Sorry for waffling.

Andy.

Andy
Dont be sorry, thats just the kind of information the guys are looking for and very informative.
Oh and congratulations,I caught my first fish on the fly last year and also my first decent sized grayling. What a thrill, just like you drove home with agrin like a cheshire cat.
Different story this year though (see thread in general topics)

Keep up the good work and we may let you back over the border

Gary

Well done to both of you.

Andy - Do you know any day ticket stretches? Were you on a Day Ticket stretch when you fished last friday?

Sorry, forgot to mention that I fished at Bolton Abbey. It's £20 for a day ticket and I was advised that it's best to book for Sat/Sun as I think they limit the number of tickets.I believe it also gets very busy with day trippers at the weekend.

Andy.

can certainly relate to your story Andy, I river fished for the first time at Bolton Abbey last year and although I only caught the one and it won't break any records, I had a smile on my face for a week after
