Default River Wharfe Turbines

Picked up a Metro on the way to work this morning and read a piece on the recommissioning of a water-powered turbine on the Wharfe at Grassington. The original building plant dates from 1909 and evidently uses an Archimedes screw. News to me - anyone heard anything else?

Hi
The only turbines I know of are the ones at the trout farm at Kilnsey

Is this on the site of Locock's Mill at Lynton, which has been turned into flats - Saltaire AA water, or used to be, I believe?

Hey up Steve
I think you are right. I've just googled 'Grassington hydroelectric' and there are a few links, but this one from English Heritage is from the horses mouth, so-to-speak:

Seems a really good idea - the turbines are 'fish friendly'.

An article concerning this appeared in our local paper last Friday:

Fascinating stuff!

Kind regards
