Default Lyepole

I fished the Lugg at Lyepole on Thursday. It wasn't an easy day! Stiff cool breeze, loads of leaves coming down and the odd heavy shower. Quite a few insects coming off but no rises, come to think of it this is the fourth time I've fished here and I can barely remember any fish rising!

Fished with a heavy nymph, short lining with the rod held high and watching the fly line for takes. It was hard work and by 3.30 pm (after 4 1/2 hours!) I had 4 fish. Mind you, I had lost 7 in succession. I checked the hook and the gap had opened, probably after i freed it from a branch. Lesson learned the hard way!! It then all came good in the last half hour when I had 6 more. Nothing big, 6 grayling and 4 trout (out of season but inevitable)

This is a lovely piece of water, shame it's so far from Newbury!!

Regards

Peter
