Default River Test - Timsbury

Hi,

I have a rod booked this thursday. Does anyone know if this beat will colour up given the amount of rain we have had (and are due to have this week)?

I know chalkstreams do not usually colour, but wondered about Timsbury as it is quite low down on the Test.

Cheers

Jon

Jon,
Surprisingly the Wey has dropped a foot and started to clear since yesterday however it might be worth phoning to see if you can change your Test day just in case. I fished the Whitewater friday and although it was very high and dirty the fish were really switched on to the mayfly although the rises were inconsistent.

Jon,

It's been hammering down with rain here in Andover so there must be a good chance that the Test at Timsbury will be coloured up. The Avon was at the weekend for sure.

Who did you book the fishing with? Might be an idea to call them and get a view on the river conditions.

Hmmm,

Phoned the venue who said 'river is fine and fishing well'.

Go there to find the river muddy and almost no fish rising (mayfly hatch was huge).

Only managed two fish - both poor condition stockies (1 rainbow and 1 brown)

The 'carriers' are silted up canals full of carp and roach.

Not impressed - will not be returning

Hope their ebay feedback will reflect your dissapointment!
I actually thought loose weed would have been your biggest problem
It makes the Whitewater a ridiculously cheap price to pay all things considered.

No it doesn't Jayp... don't know what you mean

Sorry to hear that John - did you not see the wee carriers down the side of the main branch (not the canal like ones which are near the car parking area)? Were they unfishable too?
Damn shame - I'd have thought it would be good at this time of year...

Default 1st visit to Timsbury

I am booked in Timsbury for grayling at the end of the month. They take both coarse and fly anglers, so as the test is quite wide there I am wondering what type of water to expect and hope it is not just deep glides for trotting the worm but also some shallow riffles more suitable to dries and nymph?

I have fished the Test before but further upstream

thanks for your feedback
