Default Wye and Usk advice

Well soothed by Salisbury chalk I fancy a bit of rough and tumble smallish-medium sized freestone river trout/grayling fishing. I'd be grateful for any suggestions/advice on suitable beats for this on Wye and Usk passport or similar day ticket waters - probably later next week (rain permitting). I don't mind hiking/scrambling/bush-bashing or deep wading.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Hi Mark
Check out my latest post on the Monnow thread for today's conditions

The whole system may well be in much better shape by late next week but it does depend on the rain. What I would do at this juncture is to check the WUF and find out which booking office beats are available for trout & grayling next week and then bide your time a bit. The passport beats on the Monnow/Honddu system will certainly be worth a look also. If it is trout you are after, I would give the Irfon/Ithon a swerve - they can be the piscatorial equivalence of dentistry at this time of year. The Usk is fishing ok I believe but a pm to Grizzle will give you some good info.

If you can hang on until monday we can give you a better steer then.
Best
Dave

Morning Both
Taniwha things have been tough lately, water has been high at Crickhowell to Pant y goitre beats up to 4ft ASL. However, i have had a quick squint this morning and its starting to drop nicely, pray for no further rain and it should be fishable soon.
If i can be of any help i.e when/ where etc send us a pm as TM suggests.

Regards
G

Blimey these Welsh rivers are getting busy I've got two days on the Usk next week so feedback on the current conditions would be great Grizzle, Tanhiwa and Marxach.

Cheers

Jay
