Default River Trothy Pollution.

I don't know if this has already been done, but according to the Angling Times 20,000 fish have been killed by an agricultural pollution on the Trothy in Monmouthshire. The casualties were 15,000 bullheads, and 5000 fish of other species, including 1500 "large brown trout", 100 eels and 200 lamprey.

They were found dead in a 10km length of the river, at Llantilio Crossenny.

Ach thats sad to hear mate...

Lets just hope for those guilty to be brought to swift justice and in the long term the full rejuvination of the stretch involved.

We must never forget how fragile these eco-systems can be and how much damage just one careless/deliberate pollution can inflict as this incident sadly shows

For those that don't know it this is a tiny river, only about 5 yards across where it meets the Wye. It is little known but one of my favourite rivers with great wild brown trout fishing and a fantastic mayfly hatch.

Llantilio Crossenny is a fair way up the river and such a pollution is a total tragedy and probably had an effect way downstream of this but we can but hope that the heavy rain in the area washed it through quickl and minimised the damage further downstream.

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”

It appears there has been another pollution incident on the Rhyd Hir Brook near Rhyader with implications for the Wye
