Default Usk Fenni Fach

Fished here for my first ever visit to the Usk ,water level just under 2' on the Brecon gauge ,colour chocolate sort of monnow brown but dropping out thriugh the day ,big long beat 2 klicks long ,some interestin wading 6.30 I was up to my danglys ,6.31 was gently drifting downstream ,gander will be pleased was total imersion a great baptism .
this caused me to call it a day as was chilled through by the time I got to the car and used the Falling in kit ,its a nice beat needs a staff and a Net for the upper pools,if I fished it often would visit it with some Loppers to improve acess and trim some odd branches !
Now wheres that brandy the chill is still there and need a warm bed !
Wish had been able to fish through the dusk !

Default Oupsy wet daisy

Remember fishing that beat and it is one I liked on the WYe and Usk but these Welsh rivers have a habit of hiding some triky stone ledges.

Sorry you took a dunkin', I could not help laughing when reading our post. I see though that you are wiser than most including myself as I am aware we should all carry a spare set of dry clothes back up but still rarely do it.

On the theme of rock ledges, this reminds me of my first and only Teifi salmon, I was with my dry feet on a rock ledge fishing a pool when I was blessed with a take. after being hooked the fish dived litterally at my feet and judging by the leader, the hole in front of me was no less than a good 10feet deep. I suspected it was deep but would not have guessed to what degree

A case of gloupsy wet daisy for he who does not know where he ventures.

Congratulations on your conversion to a Baptist , should we start calling you John now ?. Wise words to us all though for the importance of the "falling in kit". Sorry it scuppered your day though.
cheers
Al.

Truth of the matter is the last 2 trips after the silver tourists has involved some water being shipped ,both times before alchohol not after !
it is a shame Fenni Fach is such an extra run from London or would visit regular ,with a vine pruning saw and secatuars! I would not do to much else they would up the prices !
