Default Cheap day ticket water derby

I have a derby county angling club membership
and one of our waters is available to day tickets
holders.
It is the Allestree stretch near to darley abbey on the
outskirts of derby near the a38/a6 roundabout.
if intrested read my blog.you can find directions on
the dcac website.
don't get me wrong this aint a brilliant fly fishing venue
being a mixed fishery but it is only a fiver(cheaper for kids)
and their is loads of grayling plus a few trout so if on a
budget this may be the place.

Default Derwent

John, those look cracking fish on your blog, great result winkling those out from that stretch.
I could be really cheeky and say a few trips at £5 a day doesn't make much of a hole in the DCAC joining fee.
Not sure whether it is still the case but the first cottage on the opposite bank to the Bridge Inn at Duffield used to sell day tickets for the stretch around Eyes Meadow. I think it was Derbyshire Angling Association but I don't know whether it still exists?? It included the lower Ecclesbourne between it's mouth and the railway line.
Cheers,
Dave.

.

I don't think so sadly, not seen it mentioned anywhere for years and the cottage has been done up since (I guess) the old codger who used to knock out the tickets snuffed it.
that stretch was my first introduction to grayling fishing in Derbyshire.

does that stretch of the Derwent get fished much?
I've not heard of the Derbyshire Angling Association and I know most of them....any more info on them? It's not owned by Pride of Derby is it?

The stretch talked about near Duffield, belongs to the Derbyshire Angling Federation, it's runs from Milford Garden centre down to near enough Allestree, (I'm fairly sure about this). You used to be able to buy membership cards from the Garden centre at Milford (not sure about day tickets). A real mix of water, a lot of it is shallow and streamy and suited to the fly. What I do remember is that it was stuffed with Grayling. I think it is match fished by the club. Probably worth fishing, if the matter of day tickets could be nailed down.
Where do you get the day tickets for the Allestree stretch fished by DCAC?
Nice looking brown trout from that water. I am told that Grayling and Browns are coming out of the Derwent right in Derby City centre, on what is more or less free water. Some big browns too by all accounts, anyone know anything this?

nick here are the directions.
tickets from farmer £5

Take the A6 exit off the A38 towards darley abbey.
immediatelyafter the darley abbey sign turn left into church lane
.after 150 yards turn left into south ave.after 200 yards turn left into
north ave go to the end turn right through farm gate carry on keeping to the left till you reach the farm building. park to the right of the farm .
if you walk down to the river bear towards the left side corner straight
across the feild looking for the riffle below the A38 bridge.
if you catch a good brownie the farmer is partial to them.
his dogs are freindly and they will spend the day with you
if you let them.
