Tragically it is not bizarre. It appeared the year before that as well and probably happened the year before that but was not reported.
The EA now see it as good publicity to show what they are doing for our licence fees. God knows what happens to the fish when the are stocked into a new pool and what happens to the poor stressed fish already in that pool.
What the EA should be doing is finding a long term fix for this reoccurring problem instead of spinning a dire situation.

The other concerning thing is that this river has been chosen as one of the pilot studies for the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the scheme has been running for a year or more now. I keep hearing bad or no news on how it is going. A shame because the WFD should be the biggest and best thing to hit our rivers ever.
