Default Usk Town Water ?

Hi all,

Any info on how Usk Town Water is fishing for trout at the moment. I have fished it numerous times in the past, although not for a couple of years, and was thinking of a trip next weekend. Also, anyone know what the current price is for a day ticket ?.

Thanks in advance,

wjd

It's many years since I fished it but at this time of year the best hatches will be towards the evening and £15 per day rings a bell but I'm not at all sure. The trout fishing on the Usk in general has been exceptional this year by all accounts.

For up to date information on the best time to fish, flies and ticket prices give Jean Williams of Sweet's Tackle Shop a call on 01291 672552.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I have enjoyed many successful evenings with sedge and spinners on the Bell pool at this time of year, but it can be a bit up and down. Last fished it in 2006, when it was a bit quiet.

Looks like we are going a bit further upstream now, so need to save the Town water for another evening.

Cheers,

wjd

.. and it certainly was. On Sunday afternoon and evening we finished up on one of the middle Usk beats which are available through the WUF booking office. Always occasional fish rising during the day. At about 7.30 the wind dropped and there was a good rise to medium sized olives that lasted until 10pm. Two of us finished up with approximately 60 trout between us, all of which were returned. Trout were beteeen 8" and 15", and approximately 10-20% were obvious stocked fish with damaged dorsal fins. Several of the pools were marked as salmon pools, but did not see any signs of one, nor for that matter any sea-trout.

Cheers,

wjd
