I'm not sure if it was Islwyn water but I've fished the Ebbw at Risca behind the rugby club. Apart from the inevitable urban rubbish in the river it was full of surprisingly large trout with plenty of fly life on view. I caught five to about 16" in about an hour and all were in spanking good condition.
