Default Lothians

Hoping to wet a line on a couple of rivers and wondered if anyone had any advice:

River Tyne - have just acquired an ELAA permit. Fished it once on the Haddington/Bolton bit but was cold and very dour. was thinking about trying the lower stretches for seatrout...is this a waste of time?

River Avon (West Lothian) - just moved next to it and know very little about it save for where to get a permit.

Esk - pass it every day and looks cracking although I had heard it still was rather polluted. Also have no idea how to get a permit.

Any info welcome

Default Tyne

Fished the Tynigham Estate section last night. Was the first time I had seen the stretch.

Very low water and seemed almost stagnant with lots of silt and algae.

Fly life everywhere but hardly anything moving at all

Only positive note was a I saw a cracking seatrout swim by me...certainly 3lb+

Texxa,

The Esk down to the estuary at musselburgh is controlled by the Musselburgh AA. You can buy a permit from a few outlets. Try Mikes Tackle shop, I know they definitely sell them.
As for pollution..... main pollution comes from sewers draining straight in further upstream I think.
The troot are there though, so can't be that bad and they don't seem to mind a wee jobbie or two

Get a life....or a sense of humour......or both.
"in this day and age" we have to see humour in most things because if we didn't, we would all be stressed out, raving liberalists who see the end of the world in every situation possible.
Get out fishing and enjoy yourself.

Have you thought about the Pentlands Texxa? almost on your door step.

Try Harlaw £10.00 for six fish limit, the ticket also allows you to fish Thriepmoor for Browns.

The other`s are
Glencorse
Loganlee
Clubbiedean
Harperrigg

Have a look here http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/phrp/fishing/fishing.html

I think you are the one who needs to get a life .What ,exactly,is humourous (sp) about sewage draining directly in to rivers .?

I'd heard there had been a bad polution in the Esk earlier in the year - so much so, permit holders were getting their money back.

The Esk at Musselburgh is fishing really well just now, mostly for stock Brown trout averaging about half a pound, good sport on light tackle. Try a parachute olive #18 and you wont go far wrong. Permits availlable from Davy at Eskside tackle in Fisherrow.
