Default River Lune 2012

Good luck, for the forthcoming season, to all who fish the Lune, and any other rivers. Lets hope we have a good one.
Regards Lunesman.

If anybody is interested the Fawcetts casting day is to be held on Sunday May 6th at Underley Park, part of the KLAA water.

Has anybody any information about the River Rawthey upstream from Sedbergh? Not the Lune I know - but a tribuatary. Is it worth fishing for trout?

As far as I know you can get a day ticket to fish around the Sedbergh area from the paper shop, in the middle of Sedbergh. Failing this the offices of the Yorkshire Dales National Park at the end of the main street can be very helpful.

Thank you for your reply Lunesman. I fished the Prince Albert water above Sedbergh, only for a couple of hours, during a weekend camping trip nearby. There was no sign of trout (or anything else) which might have been my clumsyness, or might be becausethere aren't many. The river has a lot of promising runs, even in relatively low water.

Anyone seen any salmon yet on the Lune? I know it's a bit early.

Not great trouting to be honest. I assume you're referring to the short bit of the river that PAAS have at Low Haygarth? Late season it can fish ok when the fish from lower down make for the headwaters to spawn - needs water though. Bottom end of the river from Sedbergh to the Lune confluence is a better bet (day tickets from Lowis countrywear in town), but still nowt to write home about.

Thanks for that North Country, confirmation of what I had concluded really. If I am camping around there later in the year I might have a go for sea trout, although Prince Albert also have a short stretch of the Lune nearby ( Killington New Bridge) - any ideas what that's like?
