Lots of legal and illegal netting going on in Lough Neagh and it is only increasing.

More information here:

And a petition here:
For the future of fishing in Northern Ireland - PetitionBuzz

The anglers behind this movements have done great work regarding the netting of salmon on the Irish coast. I really hope the move to stop illegal netting on Lough Neagh has the same impact.

Regards,
Brennan

Hi quirkyfish
Fished the sixmile a lot last year for Dollaghan with a lot of blank nights but this is unfortunately the nature of the beast.I did have a good few hook ups but a lot of lost fish until I changed to double rather than single hooks. At the end of the season had one 8pound+ and the following week had on what felt like a true monster for around 10 seconds which nearly pulled me in.
How often did you fish it last year?

Hi Ginked, i fished it quite a bot really, got a season ticket and gave it a good go. probably got around 9 or ten in total biggest being 4 pounds, but i did spend a lot of nights up there with nothing, and as i said before, most of the fish i caught had net marks. I wrote an email to the dcal about the netting issue in the lough and they honestly just basically tried to tell me its ok because they arent allowed to net at the weekends!!!! only in northern ireland would you get it!!! haha. That 8 pounder sounds like a crackin fish!!! nice one!!!
