fished the skerne a fair bit last autumn in and around darlington town centre/ south park, caught plenty of dace and small chub upto 1 1/2 lbs on black klinks, nothing spectacular but fun enough on the dries.

I thought that this bit belonged to Darlington BT or Darlington Flyfishers?

Doesnt ferryhill have the bit next to the A1 anymore then?

What about the bit at Aycliffe village - are you allowed to fish it there?

ferryhill have the stretch between aycliffe village and the brafferton .

the stretch starts at the quarry road and continues for about a mile or so past the A1 road bridge .

there was a polution leak 2-3 years ago from the water board of all people.

trout to 4lb were killed , chub nearing 6lb and big barbel .

from what i've heard it is fishing again now .

had a look at the aycliffe village stretch in the summer , looks very fishy indeed .

heard there is some nice trout in there from people who sit and picnic by the river in the summer .
don't know who has it though , never saw any signs of angling clubs.
