Default Tummel

Heading up the tummel this weekend. Has anyone fished it yet? If so how was it and what methods were most effective (bugging probs).

Default Reports

Not fished it yet but heard a report about two weeks ago that very little had been caught as yet.

May be starting to show about now

Put that right at the weekend hopefully. thought grayling would still figure in the colder weather though.

Default Grayling

Hi Wullie

The report I heard was referring to salmon.

If you are needing any local gen I found Chris at the Old Smiddy (fishing / taxidermy shop) in Ballinluig very helpful. He has a really nice range of kit to boot. Similarly Quayles of Pitlochry are very helpful and always worth a look. The chap in there bailed me out last season when my salmon rod mysteriously split in two while fishing. An absolute gentleman!!

Good luck...a nice plump grayling would put a smile on my face any time of the year.

Cheers lads. phoned today and river is a bit high so might go to the Tay above Dunkeld instead. Just have to wait and see what the weather brings

Default Tay

How did you get on? Was on the Tay myself yesterday...first outing of the year and a 15lb sea-liced springer. Not much else doing by all accounts so was lucky.

First ever clean run springer and my biggest fish to date

Hi texxa, we didnt go on Sunday as my mates thought it was going to be too high. Its a 70-75 mile trip each way so they didnt want to take the chance. If I can get a partner for this weekend I will try and get up if the weather stays decent.

The only heat on the Tummel was on Sunday there. The rest are on the Tweed and Clyde
