Default River Tweed

Watched someone on the Tweed at Thorneylee scrapping with a nice Salmon around 3.20 this afternoon. If that was anyone on here then well done
Water was a bit high/coloured for trout fishing..but the Salmon fishers were out in force!

Cheers Diarmid.

Hope I'm posting in the right place but can anyone shed light on why the Tweed is so slow at the moment? All things are relative and there are still 40-odd salmon a day showing on FishPal catches but that's a lot of rods fishing. A vested interest is that I hope to fish the last day of the season - Nov 30 - on a lower river beat so hoping for some action soon

Fishing on Tweed is dire at the moment, and with 2 weeks left to go there is little scope for improvement. The river is full to bursting with salmon - but very few are taking. I think it has something to do with the unseasonably high air and water temperatures. There has been little in the way of seasonal frosts, and I think that is a big factor.

I agree Dunbar, a wee touch of frost will at least get the cockfish going. The run was early and the resulting backup of fish will create stress which won't help the disease thats hitting them as well. No wonder there not taking a flee if the the pools are stuffed with fish to that extreme.
