Just coming home from the opening of Dee and it was a wonderful and cool experience. The first I caught the first springer, as last year

on Lower Crathes and a additional 3 springers were caught by Lars Terkildsen (2) and Bo (1) Bengtsson. We caught all togther 4 springers plus 42 kelts. All this despite heavy winds and snow, but it seemed only to make things better a valuable lesson learned on the Dee. The second day we came down to the river all highly motivated but to our big surprise saw the river covered with larger ice flakes pushing down, it was all over the river and it was impossible to fish. After 7 hours of waiting and a little clearance, we decided to give it a go and fish among the ice and caught against all odds 4 more kelts, however a cold wading experience of 0 degree water.
All together, the ghillies were very happy since it looks like there will be plenty of water the weeks/month to come and even more promising, one of the springer we caught were a so called Christmas springer, a springer that enters the Dee in December. This means that some of the springers have already made a full stop at Lower Crathes and now just adding up by the numbers up which will benefit all anglers going to Lower Crathes.
The Monkey Fly was the one mainly responsible for all this, as last year.
