Hi all,

I'm planning a week's fishing on the Annan in mid-October, but never having visited the river I don't know which beats are the best for the fly (and the fish). At the moment I'm considering Applegarth and/or Annandale Estates on the upper reaches, but might also try a day on the Cleuchhead and/or Brocklerigg on the lower reaches.

Can anyone give me the benefit of their knowledge of the Annan? I'm happy to wade and reasonably fit.

I fished Cleuchhead in May 2 years ago, Top Notch beat, big browns, good number of Graylings and hooked a couple of cracking Sea Trouts on nymphs, one broke the tippet and another one landed. They fight like devils

Can you fish there during the Salmon season?
