Default River Trent on the fly

With our upstream rivers of the Dove where I spend most of my time fishing being down to there bare bones wess and myself have been fishing free stretches of the Trent around Stoke on Trent..
Not known as a 'in the cliche' fly water I have been gobsmacked at the fishing this river has to offer in all species on the fly and in our recession most it free!!!

I have been fishing tribs of the Trent but last night we took a trip down to the main river Trent,
I had my first ever trent wild trout that battered me all over the place including lots of chub to the dry
Wess fishing the OE sculpin hooked a pike over double figures which bust him clean as it tail walked across the river
cracking change from the usual stuff
Hope someone can let us know how they have gone on fishing the fly on anywhere on the Trent..
I know Alex Swann did well a few years back...

That brown trout is simply glorious! You must have been overjoyed to see it. The spotting is very distinctive and the white stripe on the anal fin together with the size of the fins set it apart as a very special fish. Your report is one of the high points of this summer! Excellent, just plain excellent stuff!

I regularly fish the Trent with a fly rod, mostly for Pike. The river is looking fantastic these days and it's great fun stalking fish on some of the shallower stretches.

This is an average size Trent Chub weighing 4.6 that I took on a baitfish pattern earlier this week.

Wow that's a wicked chub mate, i have seen huge amounts of chub but nothing of any size yet, what strikes me is these chub and dace get preoccupied with a certain hatch and will act very much the same as trout..
Would love to see some of your pike pictures?

Thanks for comments
Much appreciated
Nice one
Glen

Very good to see, not least 'cos wasn't there a pollution incident and fish kill near Stone last year (or possibly the year before)?
