Re: River Eden
Hi, k2.
The River Eden at Warwick, Wetheral area is privately controlled. Much of the water upstream of Warwick Bridge on the A69 road is Yorkshire Fly Fishers Club water. From Warwick Bridge downstream it is owned by Warwick Hall, where there might be the chance of a trout ticket, but the rest of the fishing down to the M6 motorway bridge is strictly private and mainly salmon water, as is most of the water from Lazonby village right down to the tidal water. Below the M6, the water is controlled by Carlisle AA, in the main. They also have a short stretch of the River Caldew, upstream of the city. City dwellers have permission to fish a couple of miles free on the Caldew, and also on the River Petteril. Both streams have trout and grayling within the city limits. Visitors' tickets should be available for trout, try Geoff Wilson or McHardy's tackle shops. Check the local telephone directory, and give the shops a call, the staff are usually very helpful, in my experience, as a Cumbrian, and I see no reason why they should be anything other than helpful to our many visitors. Jada. Good luck.
