Hi Folks,
I'm sure that some of you are aware of the Pollution incident on the River Holme just upstream of it's confluence with the Colne near Huddersfield Town Centre, which managed to wipe out the river downstream just 6 months ago.
Whilst looking through the recent edition of "Salmo Trutta" (the Wild Trout Trust Magazine) I came across the following advert for the Orvis Company -:

What a surprise to find that the picture used by the Orvis Company in the advert features the very same spot that the pollution entered the river. As no club or individual actually owns the fishing rights for that stretch of river it seems that the river will have to rely on recovering by itself. Do any of you think it would be worthwhile approaching the Orvis Company and see if they would be willing to help in funding a restocking programme for the river? Do you think it would be worthwhile approaching Paul Proctor (the angler in the photo) to see if he would be prepared to give a little of his time to try and raise funds to help in a restocking programme. I'm thinking he could possibly donate an evening talk or possibly a days accompanied fly fishing that could be auctioned.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
And if Yorkshiremen is about I would be greatful if he could provide us with an update as to whether the Environment Agency are going to prosecute the perpetrators.
Cheers
Mick Pogson
